The human body is made up of bones, flesh, nerves and blood and its vessels. Each of these can only function in the presence of vital energy. Without this energy the body is like an advanced, efficient computer without the electrical power supply. The balancing of energies in the body is a part of natural therapies. The body's energies are seen as being the cause of health or illness and not as a by-product of physiological processes. There are a number of approaches to restoring the energy flow and balance in the body. These approaches include: acupuncture, meditation, tai, chi, qi gong and yoga as well as many others.

Acupuncture

Practitioners of Chinese medicine work at the energy level in the body. There are a number of arms to traditional Chinese medicine with acupuncture being one aspect that has received attention in Western medicine. Acupuncture energy within the body flows through meridians or energy pathways. For some reason blockages take place in the energy pathways and normal physiology is disrupted. This energy disruption will lead to certain effects and thus the symptoms of pathology will occur. Acupuncture meridians are located throughout the body. Acupuncture treatment aims to relieve blockages and restore energy flow and balance.

Meditation

People often wonder if meditation is a technique, a state of mind or an experience. Mediation is a name that is applied to each of these. It is a relaxed and alert state of mind. You mediate while still being aware of peripheral thoughts, sounds and sensations. Meditation works because we focus on one thing (and this is a pleasant escape from random thought), we are in the present moment and we are mainly sensing rather than thinking (that is consciously paying attention to some object of the senses). When the body has been fired up by a stressful event or situation the relaxation response that can be gained with meditation helps to restore the internal balance and allow healing to take place. Creative visualization is a form of meditation that can assist with the healing process.

Tai chi, Qi gong or yoga

These practices have around for, in the case of yoga, thousands of years. It is beneficial to practice one of these throughout life. The benefits of each are similar. They provide a gentle stretch to the all major body parts and muscles, they strengthen the muscles and give a sense of endurance, stamina and vitality. They stimulate the energy levels in the body and improve mental alertness. They provide a way of uniting the mind and body and spirit.

You may find that these approaches will assist and accelerate your healing from common conditions and diseases.
